Sophus Helle

Sophus Helle is the translator of The Complete Poems of Enheduana, The World’s First Author (Yale University Press, 2023) and of Gilgamesh: A New Translation of the Ancient Epic (Yale University Press, 2021). He received a PhD in comparative literature from Aarhus University and an MA in Assyriology from the University of Copenhagen. He won the European Young Researcher Award 2020 Popular Prize and the Aarhus University Research Foundation 2021 PhD Prize. Helle is a regular contributor to the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen and is a board member of the Danish Institute in Athens.
