On Joan Mitchell's Birthday, a Conversation with the Editors of New York School Painters and Poets

By Harriet Staff

On the heels of a nomination for the 2014 AICA (International Association of Art Critics) Award, a video surfaced yesterday featuring the editors of New York School Painters and Poets: Neon in Daylight (Rizzoli Publications), over at the Joan Mitchell Foundation Education & Research Center. The occasion was officially Joan Mitchell's birthday (the artist would have been 90 on February 12), a nice marker for the new publication, an "unprecedented volume [that] comprehensively reproduces rare ephemera, collecting and reprinting collaborations, paintings, drawings, poetry, letters, art reviews, photographs, dialogues, manifestos, and memories." Allison Power, Bill Berkson, Larry Fagin, Ron Padgett, Jenni Quilter, Carter Ratcliff, and Anne Waldman talked for a bit over an hour.
