Poet Matthew Olzmann was born in Detroit and lived for 15 years in Hamtramck, Michigan. He earned his BA from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and MFA from Warren Wilson College. A former Kundiman fellow, his first collection of poems, Mezzanines (2013), won a Kundiman Poetry Prize and was published by Alice James Books. Olzmann has received praise for his exuberantly thoughtful style and wide-ranging subject matter. His honors and awards include fellowships from the Kresge Arts Foundation, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, and the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop. With Ross White, Olzmann edited Another & Another: An Anthology from the Grind Daily Writing Series (2012). He is the poetry editor of the Collagist and in 2012 was the Joan Beebe Teaching Fellow at Warren Wilson College.
