Idra Novey is the author of Exit, Civilian (2012), a National Poetry Series Selection and a Best Book of 2012 by Cold Front Magazine and The Volta. She is also the author of the poetry collection The Next Country (2008), which was a finalist for the Foreword Prize, and the translator of several books of Brazilian poetry and The Passion According to G.H. (2012), a novel by Clarice Lispector. With the artist Erica Baum, Novey collaborated on the book Clarice: The Visitor (2014). Her novels include Ways to Disappear (2016), which won the Brooklyn Eagles Prize, the Sam Rohi Prize, and was a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize, and Those Who Knew (2018).

Novey is the recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Poets and Writers magazine, the PEN Translation fund, and Poetry. She has taught at Columbia University, Fordham, New York University, Princeton, the Catholic University of Chile, and in the Bard Prison Initiative.
