Dale Smith has published essays, reviews, poetry, and criticism, most recently Slow Poetry in America (Cuneiform, 2014) and Poets Beyond the Barricade: Rhetoric, Citizenship, and Dissent after 1960 (Alabama, 2012). He earned a PhD in rhetoric from the University of Texas at Austin and teaches English at Toronto Metropolitan University. His scholarly and creative work contributes to ways of understanding public space and private feelings associated with objects, dreams, memory, and geographic regions.

Smith is the author of four books of poetry, many available through Small Press Distribution. He has published essays, reviews, and poems in Best American Poetry, Bookforum, Chicago Review, Jacket Magazine, and other print and online journals.
